Heritage reports

Heritage Reports

This month we started our heritage reports. The class studies countries of heritage and does an oral report about a famous person from a country of heritage and also chooses a second part of the report which could be learning about holidays, playing a song, sharing food they created, constructing an art project from the country, making a travel brochure and more. We love sharing about our heritage and learning about new places! Here are just some examples of the fun we have had in class learning.

Art Class

Lilies in art

We made the most beautiful lilies with our art teacher this week. First we sketched them out and then we outlines in sharpie or oil pastel and water colored them in. They are so much fun and beautiful.

Eucharist Vocabulary

Eucharist Vocabulary

We learned new vocabulary words as we study for first communion. The words we learned were vestment, chalice, host, consecration, paten, purificator, alb, pyx, altar and more. Then we were even able to go to church and our priest gave is a tour of the church and showed us each of things up close. We made these pictures as a review.

Leprechaun Fun!

Leprechaun fun!

We made leprechauns and placed them in our front windows to celebrate March! We hope the leprechaun will visit us on March 17th! Each leprechaun has his or her own cute face. We even used tissue paper for the hair!

Leprechaun in a jar

Leprechaun in a jar

We created little leprechauns with paper and art supplies and placed them in a jar. After that, we wrote a story which sequences the steps on how to catch a leprechaun. We had to use good describing words and details so you could picture our trap as you read the story. It was fun to write about the leprechaun getting caught. We hope we really catch one this year!

Math on the Table!

Math on the Table!

In math we are learning to use mental math to try to problem solve. First, we were adding ten more and then ten less. We then learned how to add or subject eleven based on that we know about adding and subtracting ten. To end the lesson we were able to solve mental math prpoblems and use white board markers to write the answers on the table. It was crazy fun! -2LC Foodies
