We are learning about shapes. We took 7 pictures of objects in the classroom that remind us of shapes. Then we loaded them into pic collage app, labeled them and decorated! We had a great time!!!!-2LC Foodies

We made shape people out of paper. My favorite part was to then use the Chatterbox app and take pictures of the shape and make it talk. - Salad
We made a shape with arms and legs and eyes. We recorded our voice talking about the shape. -Burrito

First, we traced our hand on peach paper. Then, we had a black strip for the wand and a star. Then, we glued down everything and then we put on the glitter. - Oreo
So we got a black piece of paper and a yellow star. We out the black paper and the star together to make a wand. Then at the end we added glitter and wrote about what we would do with a magic wand. - Bagel
I used the paper and the glitter and I traced my hand. We wrote about our magic wands in our writing. - Root Beer Float

Measurement Me is when you measure yourself and make a mini character with the measurements. You color, oh but you don't color your hair. You use yarn for your hair and pick any color. You can pick whay you are doing in the picture like baseball. -Ice Cream Sandwich

We first tear out paper to make the chalice and the bread. We used peach for the bread and yellow for the chalice. -Spaghetti

We wrote in a book about everything we know about the president and the governor. We learned that if you want a law and the president does not like it he will stamp veto right on the paper. -ButterFirst, we drew the three branches of government. My favorite part was when we then got to watercolor. -Pineapple

Heritage reports
Heritage Reports
This month we started our heritage reports. The class studies countries of heritage and does an oral report about a famous person from a country of heritage and also chooses a second part of the report which could be learning about holidays, playing a song, sharing food they created, constructing an art project from the country, making a travel brochure and more. We love sharing about our heritage and learning about new places! Here are just some examples of the fun we have had in class learning.

We made the most beautiful lilies with our art teacher this week. First we sketched them out and then we outlines in sharpie or oil pastel and water colored them in. They are so much fun and beautiful.

We learned new vocabulary words as we study for first communion. The words we learned were vestment, chalice, host, consecration, paten, purificator, alb, pyx, altar and more. Then we were even able to go to church and our priest gave is a tour of the church and showed us each of things up close. We made these pictures as a review.
Leprechaun Fun!
Leprechaun fun!
We made leprechauns and placed them in our front windows to celebrate March! We hope the leprechaun will visit us on March 17th! Each leprechaun has his or her own cute face. We even used tissue paper for the hair!Tuesday, March 3, 2015

We created little leprechauns with paper and art supplies and placed them in a jar. After that, we wrote a story which sequences the steps on how to catch a leprechaun. We had to use good describing words and details so you could picture our trap as you read the story. It was fun to write about the leprechaun getting caught. We hope we really catch one this year!

Math on the Table!
In math we are learning to use mental math to try to problem solve. First, we were adding ten more and then ten less. We then learned how to add or subject eleven based on that we know about adding and subtracting ten. To end the lesson we were able to solve mental math prpoblems and use white board markers to write the answers on the table. It was crazy fun! -2LC FoodiesMonday, February 23, 2015
Valentine's Day Party
Valentine's Day Party
We had so much fun celebrating Valentine's Day in class. We not only made our own bags and filled them with cards and treats but we also rotated through three centers for the party. We were able to play Valentine Jingo which is like bingo but you have to solve problems and mark your answer. We also made picture frames with modge podge and placed a picture of ourselves inside. Finally, we created gummy sticks filled with candy and coconut donut weeples for a treat! It was such a great day! 2LC Foodies

George Washington
George Washington
We have been learning about the lives of the presidents this month. We are doing president reports where we each get a president and we have to find facts on the ipads about them and then we are doing a cool project with the facts. But first we made these George Washingtons since he is the first president.

If I had 100 dollars......a writing for the 100th day of school
Today was the 100th day of school. We had pictures of our faces on money and then we had to pretend we found 100 dollars and write what would we do with the money. Some of us would take our family to the movies, some would buy a motorcycle, and others would donate it to charity. Others chose to buy a new puppy, make a lemonade stand and even eat some creamy ice cream. What would you do with $100?Oh No! My Snowman Melted!

We wrote stories about cause and effect. We had to figure out why our snowman melted and then write a paragraph about it. Then we attached it to these cute little melting snowmen. Some of the snowmen melted because of drinking hot cocoa, being out in the sun in Hawaii or standing too close to a fire.

Conversation Heart Writing
We wrote a conversation between two people. First, we made a sloppy copy with our buddies and chose who we would choose to have a conversation. Then, we each got some conversation hearts and had to use those in our writing. We checked our work and then made a good copy and glued the hearts to where the words should go. The last part was making the fun glittery faces.

Practicing Money Skills
We created a class store and we are able at centers to go shopping. We use play money and one person is in charge of the cash register and adds up what the shopper wants. The other person is the shopper and has to use what we learned in counting money to pay. It is fun to be the shopper and also fun to use the cash register.Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Chinese New Year
We had a wonderful time getting ready for Chinese New Year! We were able to learn about pictographs and how to write in Chinese. Then, we worked in groups and created our own dragons for a parade outside!
